The problem
A school’s notices live on a corkboard, in a WhatsApp group, and on a television nobody has updated since the start of term. The information leadership actually needs — which learners are slipping, early enough to do something about it — is spread across spreadsheets that only get read at reporting time.
The approach
One web application with two faces. An admin dashboard where the school office edits notices, events, fixtures and the term calendar; and a fullscreen display route that any television on campus can be pointed at, rotating through those scenes without anyone touching it again. Beside them, an analytics view built for leadership rather than for administrators, and a results showcase that exports a learner’s card as a shareable image or PDF. The Postgres schema is multi-tenant from its first line, because a platform that has to be forked per school is not a platform.
Where it stands
The display and the insights views are both built and running on typed mock data. The multi-tenant schema is written but not yet deployed, and the parent-facing app is specified rather than started. POPIA consent, a data-processing agreement and an end-user licence are being drafted in step with the build rather than after it. Nothing is published at edudashboard.tumoolo.tech yet.
